A trail of discovery
Inspired by the artisans of Chile, Marie starting exploring copper wire. Combining her eco practice by working with mostly recovered beads from discarded or unwanted jewellery, these artworks started to come alive.
A constant push for a new ideas and a desire to never repeat, a collection is born.
A long process to change

Remade Sunshine Coast is born from a desire to take the unloved items and utilise them in new, beautiful creations.

At Remade, old jewellery, unwanted beads, little toys, game pieces and other small items are collected from op shops, garage sales, market place and anywhere possible. The beads are harvested from the necklaces by deconstructing them. Some jewellery and beads are remade in to more jewellery, mostly earrings, to be sold at markets and in some special shops. The other beads are stored, ready to be used in sculptural pieces.

Each piece is designed in full prior to commencement. The beads, in most cases, need to be threaded onto the copper wire prior to starting the weaving process. Most pieces do not have joins.

The copper is mostly remilled recycled copper. And some is recovered. This, combined with the beautiful beads of glass, stone and ceramic, results in the pieces you will find on this page.

And lastly, each piece can be recycled when no longer loved ensuring a fully sustainable art
